Boker Tov

I'm sitting at the piano this morning. I've written six new songs in the past few months, all on guitar. Now I'm hoping the piano will provide some inspiration. Also, I've been going through my notebook. I keep pages and pages of thoughts, words, rants, etc. Sometimes, there is a place to start in the words.

To make work for its own sake is a remarkable thing. The songs have no purpose other than to exist, to express something, to mark my time in the world. No, not that last bit. I am done marking. I mean this in the way a dog marks. Ha. I am done claiming territory. Did I ever do this? Of course. Ego is almost impossible to extinguish, but I think it has all but disappeared in me. Although it may be ego to claim such a thing. Yes, probably it is.

I wake up every morning these past few months and play the new songs. They are refined in this way. The lazy choices identify themselves through repetition. I weed them out. My neighbors must be going mad with it. I sing and play. All morning, I sing and play the same songs.

Boker Tov.
