Christmas Eve

Well, the CDs arrived and I put them up on Bandcamp yesterday. The first burst of orders came in immediately, so  I began addressing envelopes and headed to the post office with a bag of 21 small packages. First day. I'm doing everything myself which is completely doable and fine and even enjoyable.

(Oh, there's a red tail hawk in my maple tree, a small one. The wind is ruffling its feathers. Lovely.)

It's Christmas Eve, quiet here. Tomorrow, I'll go my mother's house for the day. Someone (Darlene from high school, hello, Darlene!) said I was “a busy lady” but it's not true, not really. I spend a lot of time drinking coffee and listening to the radio, reading, walking Gem. I like a quiet life, it turns out. Well, I've always known. The song called “The Blows” on the new record is about walking away from the music business when I did. It was not conducive to a peaceful life. Of course, there is a certain amount of agitation in every life. But when you get to a certain age, you give yourself permission to avoid the things that cause too much anxiety. I did, anyway. As the song says: “and ever since then, it's been fine.”

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate!
